ATTN: All Super-Crazy-Busy Middle School ELA Teachers
You value personal family time over prepping for class, but your values aren’t lining up with all the extra hours you’re putting in each week for school!
You’re sick of working at your dining room table on Sunday afternoons (while your family does fun stuff in the other room), wasting hours in all the online rabbit holes trying to piece together lessons and activities for Monday morning!
Between fighting with technology and battling a boring textbook (or maybe you don’t even have one), you just don’t have time to locate or invent lesson plans for the week.
On top of that, you’ve been told to “just teach the standards—you’ll be fine” and you’re battling a massive migraine as you wonder how to fit in all the reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar/mechanics, and vocabulary skills your students need most with the limited amount of class time you have.
Besides, your creativity is shot and your students aren’t paying attention anyway . . . Now you have to choose between planning your weekly lessons or enjoying a movie night with your VIP’s at home.
That’s why I created the Middle School ELA Teachers Lesson Plan Membership + Community.
You’re IN the right place! This is your home for an updated, engaging curriculum all year long so you NEVER have to plan a lesson again at the expense of your personal family time.
You don’t get those precious moments back once they’re gone.
INTRODUCING THE
6th, 7th, 8th Grade ELA Lesson Plans and Resources All Year Long AND a Community for Ongoing Support
I LOVE not having to plan anything! I actually have time now for my own life. Your service has been the best thing for me and my family.
— Sarah D., Louisiana
LIFE CHANGING! I love these resources.
Thank you so much!
— Jennifer H., Texas
I am so happy about the lesson plans. The kids love them. I teach an advanced combo class so the 6th/7th/8th grade curriculum is awesome!!!!
— April O., North Carolina
Even if you only use half of what’s in the lesson plan membership...
Even if you only gain back a few hours a week...
“This membership is helping me gain my life back...I refuse to give up my life for teaching now that I have my own family! I love teaching but the time it takes away from family and me time off the clock is becoming ridiculous!!”
— Cortney M.
Members have FULL access to ALL grade level materials (perfect for scaffolding or differentiation)!
Every day and every grade level comes with beautiful lesson plans pages with the CCSS objectives already looked up and listed for you (and I'm now including the TEKS for our teacher friends in Texas!)
Objective and I Can statement; Procedures; Daily Assessment; Additional Resources... It's all done for you!
Never sit up late at night again trying to type out your lesson plans! These are nicely done so you can proudly display them in your room or turn them in to your admin!
Every unit and every grade level comes with opening activities and "Do Now's" guaranteed to get your students off to a great start (and give you a few minutes of peace at the beginning of class).
Nothing is worse than a rowdy class coming in from the halls between classes. It can make for a long hour and ruin the rest of your day. You need a great opening activity to get your students settled down, in their seats, quiet and working!
Our opening activities and mini-lessons are guaranteed to introduce and / or review the lesson content to get you started every single day. Never start a class period stressed out again!
Every lesson plan comes with done-for-you slides that can be used out of the box to teach your class. No prep necessary! Just start the slide show and teach your class off the presentation! Student Notes handouts are there, too, in case you want to use them!
These mini-lessons include "turn and talk" moments with high-level questions so your students stay engaged (no "sit-n-get" here!) This is so perfect if there are things you have to teach that you don't feel confident teaching (like poetry or annotating or anything at all!)
Nothing is more time-consuming than creating Power Point mini-lessons for teaching your class. It can take 3-4 HOURS to create a good presentation (writing the text, finding pictures, proof reading dozens of slides, etc.). You never have to create slides again!
Lesson plans include hundreds of high quality, rigorous activities that are guaranteed to not only keep your students engaged and working, but also improve learning and test scores!
Each day includes both small group (or partner) practice activities plus independent activities for a variety of learning opportunities for your kids!
Questions and activities are guaranteed to be rigorous: leveled questions, standards-based, open-ended questions to make sure your students are the ones doing the heavy lifting (not you!!)
Students should be writing all the time, and they DO with these lesson plan units (but don't worry about actually reading or grading it all... I've got you covered!)
Major writing assignments include teachable mini-lessons to get your students on the right track, step-by-step (no more "I don't know what to write next")
Rubrics, editing & proofreading sheets, and small group presentation guidelines included (this stuff will totally cut down on what you have to grade!)
Writing lessons completely match the reading lessons so students always write about what they read and / or write in the same genre as what they are reading!
Quizzes, Exit Tickets, Unit Tests, Projects, Essays, and more! Each unit test comes with two versions for easy differentiation!
Differentiated exit tickets and unit tests (Yup! I've done that for you, too, for each unit!)
Each Unit Test comes with student review activities to prep them for the upcoming assessment!
Each week contains a gorgeous "Week at a Glance" one-page PDF for YOU with a quick summary of what students will be learning.
Also included on the W at a G one-pager are ideas about how to even further differentiate the lessons for that week to meet students' needs at all levels.
Plus, you get realistic hacks and ideas for how to cut down on that week's grading (Yes! Specific to that week!).
There's also a section on the W at a G that provides strategies to limit time spent at the copy machine for that week's lessons! This is huge if you're not going to be using Google classroom because I will cut your copy time in half!

—Cristy K.
I am so happy about the lesson plans. The kids love them. I teach an advanced combo class so the 6th/7th/8th grade curriculum is awesome!!!!

I woke up this morning thinking about balance. How to balance calling parents if you have 150 or more students? How to write rubrics? How to grade papers and not take work home every night? How to create units so that assignments are sustaining, engaging and small enough to manage/grade? How to find teacher friends who actually want to connect? Exhausted by the endless meetings, emails, juggling two curriculums without support. I’m grateful for Laura Kebart and this lesson plan membership — or else I would have thrown in the towel.

I'm Laura Kebart, M.Ed., and I serve super-busy middle school ELA teachers with active lives outside the classroom.
I work with teachers who cherish their personal family time and who refuse to sacrifice one more precious moment prepping for class!

I can't wait to work with you!
Get the resources you need inside the Middle School ELA Lesson Plan Membership!
Are the lessons good for online learning?
Definitely! Everything is digital, created in Word docs, PDF’s, PowerPoints, etc. so you can download them and add them to your e-learning platform. Current members are using Google Classroom, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, etc. and it’s so refreshing for them to have the resources they need to upload anytime they need them!
Do you have novel units?
One of the dozens upon dozens of bonuses you get with your membership includes a Novel Study Task Pack that is designed to be used with just about any novel out there! Students can choose which open-ended prompts they respond to, and there are various ways to use the task pack, too. You can even break it apart and use sections of it for short stories! Ever feel annoyed because there are so many "end of novel" projects out there, but no one addresses the whole "but what do my students do DURING a novel" issue? Well, that's what the *bonus* Novel Study Task Pack does and you can use it over and over!
What if I only teach, say, 6th grade and not the other grades (7 & 8)?
Either way, whether you teach one grade level or ALL three grade levels, you get access to ALL the 6th, 7th, & 8th grade lesson plan resources. This makes it super helpful to differentiate if you need additional materials or new challenges for your students as the year goes by. Plus, it's SO helpful if you do teach multiple grade levels because the lessons aren't the exact same, so you'll always have plenty of resources to use for all your grade levels.
How long are the lessons designed to take?
In a traditional school setting, each day's lesson is designed for about a 45 - 60 minute class period. Here's an example of what it is:
Again, just an example because some days are different than others, but you get the gist. For online learning, it's just a matter of uploading the items you want to upload, or you can share your screen as you teach with the materials. You can also take an entire week of plans and stretch it out to closer to two weeks as you work on figuring things out with your online or hybrid class! The membership is really versatile, so you'll always have options for works best for you and your students.
Are there answer keys for the teacher?
You bet! The quizzes, unit tests, etc. contain answer keys while the daily activities contain “suggested” or “possible” student responses since the lessons are designed to promote critical thinking based on logical inferences from text evidence. You’ll be ready to guide students’ discussions each day based on the teacher ideas and responses included for you!
What if I just teach reading? Do the lessons have both reading AND writing?
Yes, the lessons have reading and writing embedded so students are reading in the same genre that they'll be writing in, too! Most of the writing they do is informal in terms of them writing as a way of processing what they learn. But they'll be writing across genres just like they'll be reading across genres, too. If you ONLY teach writing, then I wouldn't recommend the membership for you (unless you want to join just to access the bonuses and the on-demand trainings, which I've had people do because they ARE that good!). If you teach only reading or if you teach reading and writing combined, then the lesson plans are perfect.
Do I need a textbook? What if I literally have NO resources?
We’ve got you covered because these resources include the reading passages or links to the reading passages so you don’t have to worry about still having to rely on a boring, outdated textbook or stressing over which online articles are tried-and-true for your students. We’ve already located, written, or linked to the best reading selections for your students, and it’s all inside the membership for you!
Are these lessons and resources aligned to the standards in my state?
It's all aligned to the CCSS and the new Texas TEKS (← ok, that one is a work in progress, LOL!). But I have members across so many states that don't even use CCSS or TEKS and even they get crazy value out of the lessons because it's so much easier to not have to start from scratch.
Is there an easy way to download everything at once for the whole year?
The lessons are designed to be downloaded and used AS you need them, not ahead of time. The files are humongous (lots of good stuff in each week of plans!) and even I personally don't have everything downloaded on my computer. Like, there's no way, LOL! I work every single week to update the resources, add new materials, and to always keep things working smoothly. So download what you need when you need it to ensure you always have the most up-to-date version of resources without becoming overwhelmed. Otherwise, you'd end up with no space on your computer, and outdated files that won't work.
If I join now, what do I get next month? How do I know what lessons I'll get each month?
Oh, you get access to everything all at once. I don't hold anything back, regardless of whether you join as a monthly, quarterly, or annual member. Teachers need to see what’s available and make plans, so I don’t “slow drip” content or do anything to make you have to wait for what you need. You can click through the resources and decide what YOU need most right now😊
How can I get help? I hate it when I buy something and can't get help.
Me, too! That's the worst, right? This is the whole purpose of a membership. You have me, along with our community tech expert, and all the other members to help you, to answer your questions, and to support you. Plus, we have live members-only Q&A sessions each month.
What if I can't login? I'm always so terrible with passwords and things like that.
I'm a real person (not some lame-o textbook company) and I will respond personally to you and make sure you get what you need! Plus, you can email me anytime > > contact@languageartsteachers.com Just give me like 24 hours to get back to you at the most—I'm usually MUCH faster, though 😊
If I join and then want to cancel, what do I do?
I have members who have been with me for nearly three years now (so it's incredibly valuable, first of all). But seriously, if something changes and you wish to cancel, just shoot me an email a few days before you’re set to renew and I’ll take care of it for you. No biggie!
Do you have a refund policy if I purchase the membership and then don't want it anymore?
No, there are no refunds (unless you accidentally pay twice, which I did have someone do LOL . . . and of course I refunded her!) But it's a digital product and you get access to it all at once, so I can't refund anything because there's no way to "return" your access. If you're not sure, just start with the monthly membership and then cancel if you wish. Whether you wish to cancel completely or upgrade to the annual membership since it's more cost-effective, just email me and I'll take care of you.
Can I use a purchase order? What if I'm not sure if my school will pay for it?
You can definitely use a purchase order, and I can help you get it approved (even if you’ve been told ‘no’ before). In fact, CLICK HERE to get the Sure-Fire PO Packet which contains all the information you need to get your school to cover it for you! Then email me at contact@languageartsteachers.com and I'll help you with your PO details.
